Breathing Timer

Follow a breathing rhythm you find comfortable

Choose the rhythm before beginning

Select a preset or open Custom breathing pattern to set inhale, hold, exhale and hold durations, then choose the number of cycles. Read the selected pattern before you begin. A short, comfortable session is easier to follow than a duration you feel you must struggle to complete.

Follow the phase label and expanding or contracting visual at your own pace. Optional sound and vibration provide additional cues when the browser supports them. You can reset the session and choose a different pattern if the current rhythm is uncomfortable.

Use the display as a pacing aid

Keep the page visible when you want continuous cues. If the browser suspends a background tab, the timing can catch up when it runs again, but you may miss a sound or phase transition. Device reduced-motion preferences reduce the expanding animation.

This is a general pacing tool, not a medical assessment or treatment. Breathe normally and stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable; there is no need to complete a preset. For an ordinary quiet break with no guided phases, use a simple countdown instead.

Common questions

What happens in a background tab?

OxClock calculates from timestamps, so the phase catches up when the browser allows the page to run again.

Can I reduce animation?

Yes. Your device’s reduced-motion preference disables the expanding motion automatically.
